Frank Anthony Murphy

Our son, Frank Anthony “Tony” Murphy, born January 19,1967, in Arizona, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on October 13, 2023, in Texas, where he called home. He was 56 years at the time of his passing. He was the best son, brother and friend to all he loved. Tony was so loved and respected.

Tony, as he was called fondly, fought a very difficult battle, even in his most dire need of care it was his family he was concerned about. That's the kind of man he was.

Some of the things he liked were loud heavy metal, science, historic non-fiction, cars, giving bear hugs, home cooking (mom’s) being with family, always looking out for those that needed help in any way or just talking to someone to make them feel they mattered.

He loved helping his dad and had great respect for him. He called him Sir at times to let him know he was listening. Tony had lots of southern charm, and could talk to anyone. He came by that honestly.

Tony started school in Arizona, and moved to El Paso, Texas, at the age of ten where he attended elementary and three years of high school. Later he finished his senior year in Nacodoches Texas, before moving to Tyler, Texas, to attend college.

He was interested in criminal law and business. Not surprisingly, he partnered with two friends and opened an Italian restaurant .The “Threes P’s,” Pizza, Pasta, Pub. Later he moved on to what he really loved and that was helping people.

He started classes to become an EMT which he did achieve. He was so proud he could do more to help those in need. He also still loved to be around people and enjoyed visiting with all types, so he went back to the service industry and he was happy in that field. He met so many people who became his friends because of his winning personality.

Some of the things he enjoyed were cross country skiing, rafting, riding his bike, the Dallas Cowboys, swimming, fast cars, riding in the fire trucks, ride alongs with the police and the holidays at home. Most important to him was his faith in God, family, playing with his nieces and nephews, and Country. We can't forget he loved spicy food and his Oreos.

Tony will forever be in our hearts and he will always by our protector, that is what he wanted most in life.

Thank you God for carrying him through hard times and never leaving him.

We are amazed at all the kind words and concern for our son from coworkers. So many stories and advise was shared among them. Our hearts are so full of gratitude.

A very special thanks to Cody M. Buckmann, Juan C Maradiaga, Whitney Lewis, Officer Brock Cole, and everyone that touched our son’s life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Francisco (Tata) Crisostomo; grandmother, Esther Ortega; grandma, Louise Berntson; grandpa, Mel Berntson; uncle, Daniel Crisostomo; cousin, Tracy Medina; and an unborn sibling.

He is survived by his parents, Lydia Crisostomo Berntson and Bruce Berntson; brothers, Brook Berntson, Benjamin (Dana) Berntson, Brandon Berntson; and sister, April Marie “ Strawberry Cake Cake” Whitehurst; as well as his nephews, Lucas, Jacob, Tristan, Dominic, and Alexander; nieces, Jen, Shaylyn,Taylor, Jasmine, Ariana Rose; his aunt, Connie Medina (Godmother); aunts Alicia (Ray) Nicascio, Carolyn Hyland, Isabel Iniguez.
