FRANK S. SMITH JR.
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Frank S. Smith Jr., 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 22, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 17, 1926, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Frank S. Smith Sr. and Leona Graham Smith. He grew up in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1944. He then attended Linfield College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1950.
He served in the U. S. Army during World Ward II from 1944-1946.
He married Beth Norma Howard January 10, 1957, in Idaho Falls. He worked as Budget Chief/Director for D.O.E. from 1950 until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and traveling.
Survivors include:
Wife: Beth Smith, Idaho Falls, ID
Son: Kraig (Leigh Anne) Smith, Ackworth, GA
Son: Kurt (Amy) Smith, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Lorraine Tacklind, Coon Rapids, MN
5 Grandchildren, Michael, Bridgette, Ashley, James, and Kolton, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Susan Sargent.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Pastor John Lovegrove of the Shelley Baptist Church officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
