Frank E. Greenough Jr., 57, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 23, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Frank was born July 13, 1968, in Yuba City, California, to Frank Edward Greenough Sr. and Dagmar Heidi Bergmann Greenough. As part of a military family, he grew up moving frequently throughout the United States and abroad. He graduated from Medical Lake High School in Medical Lake, Washington.
In 1999, Frank met his person—the one who mattered most—Carla. On November 10, 2000, they were married in Idaho Falls, where they made their home and together built a drag racing legacy. You rarely saw one without the other.
A skilled automotive and locomotive mechanic and a passionate racer, Frank was one of the founders and the first president of The Midnight Muscle Car Club, where the 100-foot drags began and continue to this day. The club, and what it represents, remained one of his proudest accomplishments.
Though he was known for his stubborn ways, his seemingly unapproachable demeanor, and his towering presence, Frank was truly a big teddy bear with a generous heart, a sharp sense of humor, and a gift for storytelling.
Frank was a cornerstone of Idaho’s drag racing community. He had a passion for cars, racing, and people—bringing energy, laughter, and a competitive spirit everywhere he went.
At the racetrack, whether behind the wheel of his Chevelle performing unforgettable wheel stands, or standing proudly behind Carla watching her “get it” in her Mustang, or guiding his granddaughter, Kennedy (a.k.a. “Punk A Butt”), into the beams with her Junior Dragster, Frank’s devotion to racing and his family was constant and unwavering.
Frank is survived by his mother, Dagmar Heidi Greenough of New Mexico; his wife, Carla of Idaho Falls; stepdaughter, Tessica Davison of Idaho Falls; granddaughters, Kennedy and Reagan Vizcarra of Idaho Falls; brothers, Ken (Jennifer) Greenough of Louisiana and Rob (Kathy) Greenough of California; nephews, Lane and Aaron; and nieces, RanDee and Bryleigh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Edward Greenough Sr., and grandparents Nané and Pépé Carroll and Nanny and Peppy Mallory.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at The Brickyard Event Center, 1025 South Ammon Road.
