Frank Albin Dobbe, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 22, 2011 at his home from complications of cancer. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Frank was born November 26, 1928 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Frank Arthur Dobbe and Christine Adell Holmquist Dobbe. He grew up and attended schools in Monticello and Bonner Springs, Kansas. During the Korean conflict, he served his country in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. On May 6, 1946, Frank married Barbara Jeanne Sedgewick in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Together they raised four children: Chuck, Arthur, Becky, and Marsha. Frank and his family moved to Idaho Falls in 1960. Frank worked as a nuclear physicist for the INL from 1960 until his retirement in 1986. Among our fondest memories are fishing trips to Beckler Meadows, and an inexhaustible willingness to help his children and grandchildren with any project or problem. He had a brilliant mind and could fix anything. His grandson Max spoke for us all when he said, “He lived long, fought bravely, and died with honor.” His stable presence will be missed. He is survived by his wife Barbara of Idaho Falls; his son Arthur (Denise) Dobbe of Centerville, UT; his daughter Rebecca (Ron) Fein of Pioneertown, CA; his daughter Marsha Moore of Idaho Falls, ID; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his sisters Thelma Jones of Kansas, and Mary Love of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eldon Dobbe; his son, Charles Dobbe, a grandson, Evan Anderson; and a great grandson, Cayden Butler. Frank’s family wishes to thank the staff of Snake River Oncology and Hands of Hope Hospice for their caring hearts and loving attention. Our deep gratitude goes to Dr. Shawn Speirs for the humor, compassion, dignity, and friendship he brought into our lives. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
