Francis Burgie - 03/03/2003 Francis Burgie - 03/03/2003 FRANCIS BURGIE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Francis Alfred Burgie, 83, of Idaho Falls, died March 1, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born November 5, 1919, at Ammon, to Ernest Burgie and Harriet Betsy McCowin Burgie. He grew up and attended schools in the Ammon area. Following graduation, he attended Utah State University. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sargent. On June 29, 1941, he married Donna M. Whitehead in Ammon. For 40 years he worked as a tire re-capper at Idaho Falls Battery. He was a member of the Elks Club and a charter member of the Bonneville County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol. He was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and participating in the jeep patrol. Surviving are:Wife: Donna M. Burgie, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Toni Rae Mason, Boise, IDSon: Jeffery (Dona) Burgie, Menan, IDDaughter: Jeanne (Steve) Thorne, Blackfoot, IDDaughter: Keleigh (Terry) Parker, EnglandSister: Vera Vollmer, Burbank, CA13 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday , March 5, 2003, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., with Bishop Maurice McAffee of the Idaho Falls LDS 8th Ward officiating. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
