Frances Johnson Shoemaker

FRANCES SHOEMAKER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Frances Beatrice Johnson Shoemaker, 90, passed away September 19, 2005, at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 12, 1915, in Lockwood, Missouri, to Samuel E. Johnson and Bertha Winifred Rose Johnson. Frances was raised in Shelley, Idaho, and graduated from Shelley High School. She married O.K. “Shoey” Shoemaker on December 17, 1936, in Lovell, Wyoming. They resided in Lovell until 1941, when they moved to San Diego, California, where their two daughters were born. In 1947 they moved to Shelley, Idaho, and resided there until 1955, when they moved to Idaho Falls. Of all the places they lived, Frances recalls San Diego as her favorite because she ‘had her babies, her husband, and life was simple.’ Frances was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as a Deacon and was involved in the Agape Fellowship. She had a wonderful group of friends at her church that she loved dearly. Frances had a servant’s heart. She was always cooking meals for other people, writing letters to friends, helping with the care of her siblings, driving ladies to their Friday night dinners, and loving others any way she could. She was a member of the Henrietta Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and past Guardian of Jobs Daughters. Frances helped her husband, Shoey, run their business, Electric Motor Service, until 1977, when they retired and began to enjoy their winters in Hemet, California. They also enjoyed golfing, bowling, dinners with friends, and their time together at their cabin in Island Park. Frances’ greatest love was for her family. If she wasn’t straightening out her grandchildren, she was bragging about them! Frances understood that there was a time for everything under heaven, but that timing was not up to us! Survivors include her daughter, Sally (husband A.J.) Kellogg of Idaho Falls; two grandchildren, Brad (Angie) Kellogg of Idaho Falls, and Jodie (Gavin) Mathews of Idaho Falls; four great-grandchildren, Braxton Kellogg, Taylor Kellogg, Hannah Mathews, and Haden Mathews; two sisters, Freda Leatham and Betty Loveland, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was greeted in heaven by her husband, Shoey, who died September 18, 1997; her daughter, Shirley; one sister, Virginia George; and two brothers, Jim Johnson, and Cecil Johnson. Our Worship Service celebrating Frances’ life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2005, at First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church, “Foundations for all Generations,” or a charity of your choice. __________________________________________ Condolences sent: Lewis & Sue Town [suetown01@msn.com] Dear Sally & Family; Thinking of you at this very difficult time.
