FLORENCE PURCELL IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Florence Dorothea Oswald Purcell, 87, formerly of Idaho Falls, died August 17, 2008, at Sonia’s Certified Family Home in Middleton, Idaho. She was born June 18, 1921, in Coltman, Idaho, to Carl Henry Oswald and Elizabeth Myrtle Sargent Oswald. She attended schools in Iona and Ammon and graduated from Ammon High School in 1939. On June 21, 1939, she married Gerald E. “Jerry” Purcell in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together they had five sons. Jerry passed away November 29, 1999. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She also worked as a dental assistant in Idaho Falls for almost 15 years and at Roger Brothers for many years before that. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including Stake Relief Society Presidency, Young Women’s President, Junior Sunday School Coordinator, librarian, and visiting teacher. She enjoyed her family, friends, all people, and volunteering as a Pink Lady at the hospitals in Idaho Falls for many years. Florence was always so very loving, especially to her children and grandchildren, and was willing to try most anything – including floating the canal with her grandchildren and riding on a four-wheeler when she was well into her 80's. Survivors include her children, Steven (Camille) of Pasco, WA, Michael (Kay Ann) and Kenny of Idaho Falls, Ron (Lori) of Eagle, ID, and Joe (Inna) of Tokyo, Japan, two sisters, Donna Ward of Idaho Falls and Nila Stucki of Willard, UT; 16 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and six Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Iris, three brothers, Nolan, Dale, and Glen, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. --------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Bruce Stevenson basteven@aol.com Joe, Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing.
