FLORENCE BURTENSHAW MILLER
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Florence Burtenshaw Miller, 90, passed away March 11, 2003, at her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was born August 30, 1912, in Shelton, Idaho, to William and Sarah Alice Clegg Burtenshaw. She grew up in the Shelton area and attended the Buck School and Idaho Falls High School. On May 13, 1933, she married Odis Lavaughn Miller. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 7, 1951. He died March 15, 1999.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings, including the Primary, MIA & Relief Society presidencies, and as a Junior Gleaner she loved her Junior Gleaner girls and the many close friendships formed during these years of service.
Singing was one of the great joys of her life and she was also a dedicated worked in the Family History Extraction program, a Visiting Teacher, and though her first priority was her family, she enjoyed her work at Ferrell’s Department store. Her warm smile and concern for others will always be remembered.
Survivors include her four sons, Larry O. (Evelyn) Miller, Idaho Falls, Stanley F. (Tricia) Miller of Albany, Oregon, Roger L Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brent C. (Sondra) Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah, and two daughters, Lois A. (Mark) Ricks of Idaho Falls, and Karen ( Gregg) Miller of Logan, Utah. Also surviving is a sister, Gladys Miller, 24 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, an infant son, four brothers, and six sisters.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS 20th Ward (651 Gladstone) with Bishop Lance Toone officiating.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and for one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
