Effie Florence Emery Potter, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 29, 2020, at her home. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Flo was born July 1, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Rhodes Emery and Ida Bertha Wilding Emery. She grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. She also attended Ricks College.
On March 28, 1953, she married Donald Gene Potter in Madison County, Idaho. Flo and Donald made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Flo was homemaker and mother. She also worked as a waitress at North Hiway Café and Ada’s Café.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith in the gospel was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as cooking and painting.
Flo is survived by her sons, Michael "Mike" R. (Cherie) Potter of Rexburg, ID, and Don (Diane) Potter of Moscow, ID; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gene Potter; sons, Kenneth Gene Potter and Thomas Edward Potter; sister, Linda Emery; brother, Dennis Emery; her parents; and a granddaughter, Christine.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 5, 2020, at the Idaho Falls 24th Ward, 1155 First Street, with Bishop Michael Smart officiating. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
