Nellie Fay Warr Bird, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away due to old age April 1, 2011, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Fay was born August 7, 1919, in West Valley City, Utah, to Parley Ray Warr and Nellie Ray Field Warr. She grew up in the Salt Lake area and graduated from Cypress High School. On May 17, 1940, Fay married Orvil W. Bird in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 25, 1956. Fay worked as a mother and homemaker and raised five children with her husband. Orvil passed away March 15, 2003. Fay was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings in the Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School, and Young Women’s Organizations. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, fishing, camping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Carole (Gary) Howell of Idaho Falls, ID; Joyce (Gary) Tomlinson of Springville, UT; Nancy (Jody)Hansen of Idaho Falls; Diane (Kerry) Hansen of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orvil W. Bird; a son, Glenn Bird; grandsons, Scott Jorgensen and Greg Jorgensen; siblings, Ray Warr, Frank Warr, Verl Taft, Ella Thomas, and Stan Warr.
Wednesday April 6, 2011 , 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home
The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
