Farrel Jay Stacey, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away on July 13, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society Idaho Falls Village.
Farrel was born June 1, 1927, in Archer, Idaho to Edwin “Teddy” Stacey and Mary Browning Stacey. He attended elementary school in Archer and Lorenzo, Idaho and high school in Rexburg, Idaho and Puyallup, Washington. Farrel served in the U.S. Army from August 1945 until October 1946.
On August 24, 1950, he married the love of his life, Berniece Rasmussen, in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Idaho Falls throughout their entire marriage. To this union were born three sons: Ron, Douglas, and Curtis. Farrel worked for Johnson Brothers Planing Mill for 42 years and created many beautiful woodwork pieces. He took great pride in working on and helping direct the woodwork on 5 LDS temples. When not working, he enjoyed going to the temple, doing family history and indexing, hunting, fishing, oil painting, and spending time with his family.
Farrel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various church callings. He was a temple worker for two years in addition to serving a six year temple mission with his beloved wife.
He is survived by his wife, Berniece Stacey of Idaho Falls; sons, Ron (Janet) Stacey, Douglas (Marcela) Stacey, and Curtis (Alana) Stacey, all of Idaho Falls; brother, Frank (Thelma) Stacey;
13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Lloyd Flowers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward (651 Gladstone) with Bishop Dean Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
