EVERETT D. SMITH IDAHO FALLS, ID - Everett D. Smith, 73, of Idaho Falls, died October 20, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1930 at St. Anthony to Edwin Luther Smith and Sarah Ethel Hathaway Smith. He grew up and attended schools in the area. On April 8, 1950, he married Sonja Mathys at Idaho Falls. He worked at Ellsworth Brothers for a year and then worked for Douglas Aircraft as a tool expeditor. In 1962, he began working for Granny Goose Foods, and later Del Monte Foods, in the distributing division. In 1972, he formed his own distributing company, E & E Distributing, in the Bay Area. He was known by the nickname “The Jerky Man”. Since 2002, he was the originator and marketing director for Eastern Idaho Breakfast and Dinner for Seniors which served Shelley, Idaho Falls, Ririe, Rexburg, Rigby and Roberts. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and country music. He especially loved spending time with his family which included his grandchildren, Yolanda Santos of Twin Falls, Idaho; Elyse (Dan) Randles of Reno, Nevada; and Duran Quick of Pollock Pines, California. Surviving are: Wife: Sonja Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Nola (David) Scalzi, Pollock Pines, CA Daughter: Joy Santos, South Lake Tahoe, CA Sister: Elda (Bill) Keele, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Elva Faye (LeRoy) Anderson, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Elaine Smith, Temecula, CA Brother: Earl (Betty) Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Ervin Smith, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Evan (Barbara) Smith, Yuma, AZ 3 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eric D. Smith; 4 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Friday, October 24, 2003, at the Ammon LDS 4th Ward (3002 Central Ave.). The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
