EVELYN S. STOLPA
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Inez Evelyn Schell Stolpa, 85, of Idaho Falls, died April 4, 2002, at Life Care Center of causes incident to age.
She was born December 6, 1916, at Augusta, Georgia, to Kenneth McKendrel Schell and Inez Elizabeth Williams Schell. She spent her early years in Georgia, until the family moved to Tennessee when she was five years old. She grew up in Chattanooga, where she attended schools. She graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English in 1939.
After she completed her schooling she worked as a reporter for the Chattanooga Evening Times as a Feature Writer. With the advent of World War II she was an Army Air Force Hostess and spent two years in Dyersburg, Tennessee working at the Enlisted Men's Service Club. She married Hugh David Hopper during this time and they were later divorced. She married Raymond Edward Stolpa September 4, 1948, at Hernando, Mississippi. They were divorced in 1954. In 1955 she began her 16 year public school teaching career, teaching in Florida, Idaho, and Tennessee. In 1970 she moved to Idaho Falls, where she has lived ever since.
In 1965 she converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in various capacities in the church. She enjoyed reading and religious studies.
Surviving are:Son: Ray Stolpa, Idaho Falls, ID She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2002, at Rose Hill Cemetery with Bishop Art Rammell of the Idaho Falls LDS Boulevard Ward officiating.
