Evelyn Lee Butler Ockerman, 78, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 3, 2025. She was born the youngest of eight children (brothers, Irvin, Wayne, Vern, and Robert; and sisters, Charlotte, Dea, and Shirley) on August 10, 1946, to Irvin Philander Butler and Ruby Evelyn Faulk. She grew up in Newdale, Idaho, and attended Sugar-Salem High School (Class of 1964). She was married to Charles ("Chuck") Arthur Pierson, and they had two beautiful daughters, Annette and Michelle. She later married Steven Vern Ockerman.
Evelyn took early retirement from a long career at the Idaho National Laboratory offices in Idaho Falls, and found great joy in a second career at local State Farm agencies, where she loved her work family and retired only recently. Evelyn delighted in creating art, singing and performing in local productions, reading, religiously watching Jeopardy!, and spending time with friends and a large extended family. She loved and was loved, and her presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children, Annette Griffin of California and Michelle (Aaron) Young of Oregon; six grandchildren, Jessica, Blake, Adam, Zoe, Maxfield, and Scout; ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Charlotte; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and the remainder of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the LDS church at 1100 South Tiebreaker in Ammon, with burial at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road in Ammon, and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
