Evelyn "Lyn" Mayes

Evelyn "Lyn" Marie Fullmer Mayes, 60, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 22, 2019, at Lily & Syringa Assisted Living Center.

She was born September 17, 1958, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Oscar A. Fullmer and Barbara Deone Smith Fullmer. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. She also attended Idaho State University where she received a bachelor's degree in Teaching for Special Education and Spanish.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, DeWayne "Goon" Martell Mayes of Idaho Falls, ID; children, Krystal Deone Mayes, Alexis (Robert) Rose Siddoway, Lacey (Chad) Marie Mayes-Swanson; Step Children Kimberly (Brian) Rogers and Randy Jason (Angela) Mayes; grandchildren, Macy Lyn Siddoway, Jackson Wendell Siddoway, Jamyson Jack Swanson, Morgan Denise Powell, Cody (Gabriel) Ann Falquez, Brianna Rogers and Skylar Nicole Rogers, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

On October 10, 1975, she married DeWayne in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Lyn and Goon made their home in Idaho Falls, where Lyn worked as a Teacher for Rocky Mountain Middle School, Discovery Elementary and Mountain Valley Elementary. Lyn loved teaching and loved her students. She was very dedicated to working with her students and helping them with anything they needed.

Lyn loved life and loved learning new things. She had many hobbies and was amazing in everything she did. She always had a love for music, she was in multiple Rock N' Roll Bands with her husband Goon throughout their lives. She once made a list of all the things she wanted to accomplish in life and it included writing a book, graduating college, singing on a stage, and multiple other things and she was able to cross everything off that list. She was proud of her children and considered her girls her best friends. Lyn would often plan and organize family campouts and try to keep the family together. Lyn had a great sense of humor, even up until the end she would often joke with her son in laws and laugh with her grandbabies.

Lyn's biggest passion in life was crafting and sewing. She always had multiple projects she was working on and several rooms in the home were always dedicated to it. Her girls also love crafting and learned from the very best. She often made quilts and dolls, and even considered opening her own business to share her love of crafts in general.

The family also wants to acknowledge and truly thank the staff of Aspen Home Hospice. Especially Crystal and Monica. Lyn considered Crystal one of her best friends.

At a later date, there will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Lyn's life and remember all the good times.
