Evelyn Mae Wilson, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 8, 2022, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Evelyn was born December 3, 1938, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Othella Ervin Crane and Verna Evelyn Nelson Crane. She grew up and attended schools in Pocatello.
On February 25, 1956, she married James Ray Wilson in the Bannock Hospital in Pocatello. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 2, 1962. Evelyn and James made their homes in Idaho, Alaska, Arizona, Washington, and California, where they raised their children. She was a “woman extraordinaire,” and could do it ALL!
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served for many years with the special mutual, which held a large part of her heart.
Evelyn was not only an amazing mother figure to her own children, but to her siblings, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as opening her heart and home to many foster children through the Indian placement program. She was a master floral designer, made beautiful wedding cakes, and was known for her homemade bread, and brought a spirit of love with her singing voice.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Cynthia (Butch) Cornell of Blackfoot, ID, Sabrina (Kevin) Birch of Idaho Falls, Debora Wilson of Idaho Falls, David (Cindy Lou) Wilson of Blackfoot, ID, LaDonna Hickman of Aberdeen, ID, and Clarissa (Jonathan) Mecham of Idaho Falls; foster son, Lionel (Nancy) Bean of Kake, AK; brother, Dexter (Delores) Crane of Inkom, ID; sister, Tanna (Gene) Fountain of Pocatello, ID; brother, Barry (Wendy) Crane of Boise, ID; sister, Chriss Tina (Don) Lewis of Pocatello, ID; sister, Mary (Rod) Sorenson of Pocatello; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Evelyn Crane; husband, James Ray Wilson; grandson, Scott Wilson; great granddaughter, Olivia Johnson; great grandson, Mayson Cornell; son-in-law, Brent Hickman; and brother, Randy Crane.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, April 15, 2022, at the McCammon Stake Center, 403 West 16th Street, in McCammon, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Norton Cemetery.
