Evan Kay Mayes, 78, of Shelley, passed away April 15, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Evan was born January 9, 1947, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Hadley Clarence Mayes and Hariet Garrett Mayes. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
He was married to Vicki Bowden. They later divorced. Evan made his home in Shelley, Idaho, where he worked for Logan Farm Equipment and Miskin.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his grandchildren grow.
Evan is survived by his son, Stephen (Tawna) Mayes of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Katie Mayes of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Heather (David) Rohrbaugh of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, DeWayne Mayes of Idaho Falls, ID; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hadley and Hariet Mayes; brothers, David Mayes, and Eric Mayes; grandsons, Caleb Mayes, and Hunter Mayes, and great grandson, Diesel Kaiser.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday 1-1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, prior to services. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
