Eva Manwaring

Eva Louise Capson Manwaring, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 26, 2015 at her son’s home. She had been attended by her family and Hearts for Hospice for the past few months. She was a revered member of the Greatest Generation. She was born March 27, 1918 in McDonaldville, Idaho, to George Washington Capson and Betsy Othea Petersen Capson. She attended schools in the area and attended the Intermountain Institute in Weiser, Idaho. She grew up in the McDonaldville and Groveland areas and for several years spent every summer on the family’s homestead near Gray’s Lake. She loved the mountains, lava beds, and all flowers and plants. On November 24, 1937 she married Holley Arthur Manwaring in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. At the outbreak of World War II the couple lived in Tacoma, Washington. Holley left to serve in the war and Eva returned to Blackfoot. After the war, they settled in Blackfoot where they lived for most of their lives. Eva was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous capacities in the auxiliaries of the Church. She loved teaching the 10-11 year old boys in Primary and the M Men and Gleaners. Her true fondness was conducting girl’s camps. For her years of service to young boys, she was awarded Scouting’s Silver Fawn. With her husband, she served 3 missions for the LDS Church and served in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and received a 50-year membership pin. She volunteered with the American Red Cross and with the Pink Lady Auxiliary for Bingham Memorial Hospital. Holley and Eva moved to Idaho Falls in 2000 and lived on I Street across from the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She loved watching the crowds come and go at the temple. She was an avid gardener all her life. She has been a widow for almost 14 years. She loved living close to her family and led an active life that was always pleasant for her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holley Manwaring; her eldest daughter, Sheila (Manwaring) Gardner, and Sheila’s husband, Ronald Gardner; two grandsons, Raymond Johnson and Shane Johnson; both her parents and all 11 of her siblings. Survivors include her children Brett (Sue) Manwaring of Idaho Falls; Shauna Suarez-Boaz (Yosef) of Morgan Hill, California; Eja (Neil) Allen of Idaho Falls; Gregg (Anna) Manwaring of Idaho Falls; Todd (Sandy) Manwaring of Woods Cross, Utah, and Kipp (Rebecca) Manwaring of Idaho Falls; 53 grandchildren; 139 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Idaho Falls 7th Ward (adjacent to the Idaho Falls LDS Temple) with Bishop Josh Hawkes officiating. The family will greet loved ones and friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, both times at the church. Interment will be at Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
