IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Eva Orminda Buist, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 21, 2009, at the Rosetta Assisted Living Center. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
She was born August 14, 1921, in Newton, Utah to Leonard Goodsell and Margaret Hansen Goodsell. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from North Cache High School in nearby Richmond, Utah.
On July 25, 1942, she married John Morgan Askins and they were later divorced. She married William Buist on March 27, 1948, at her parent's home in Newton, Utah. He preceded her in death in 1995. She lived for a time in Roy, Utah before moving in 1949 to Idaho Falls. She was a devoted wife and mother and also worked as a waitress at North Hiway Café for more than 30 years.
Eva was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was known for her willingness to serve others. Before she retired, she enjoyed camping and fishing around the area. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and had been to Canada, Mexico, and Florida many times. Eva also enjoyed raising a vegetable garden.

Son: Kent (Sandi) Buist, Keizer, OR
Daughter: Margaret Wagnon, Idaho Falls, ID
7 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Following the services, burial will be in the Newton Cemetery in Cache Valley, Utah, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
