EUNICE COOK
SALEM, OR -- Eunice Bitton Cook passed away peacefully January 22, 2006, at the age of 91 at her son’s home in Salem, Oregon, with her family at her side. She was born February 20, 1914, in Riverside, Idaho, to Louis and Zina Bitton. She had three brothers and grew up on a ranch in Chilly, Idaho. The Mackay High School basketball team she played on won the Idaho State Championship in 1931 and 1932.
She married Delwin Cook and they were the parents of four children. They were later divorced. She lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho, for 55 years, before moving to Oregon in 2003 to live with her sons.
Eunice spent many years of her life doing genealogy research and has many books full to show her work. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She did daycare for several years and was loved by many. She was known as “Grandma Cook” to family and friends and was very attached to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eunice is survived by her daughter, LaVerne Bird of Othello, Washington, a son, DeLynn (Darla) Cook of Salem, Oregon, a daughter-in-law, Julie Cook of Stayton, Oregon, a sister-in-law, Josephine Bitton, of Nevada, 20 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Merrill and Wayne Cook, a son-in-law, ArDean Bird, a grandson, Keith Bird, and three brothers, Byrl, Clyde and Clint Bitton.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
