Eugene "Ray" Starnes

Eugene Ray Starnes, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 25, 2013, at his home. Ray was born December 5, 1938, in Buhl, Idaho, to Leslie William Starnes and Virginia Beatrice Johnson Starnes. He attended school in Buhl before moving to Idaho Falls when he was fourteen years old. On August 13, 1960, he married Margo Elaine McComas at her parent’s home in Idaho Falls. Ray and Margo lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ray was a Christian. Ray and his brother, Dick, acquired Commons Poultry in 1954. After retirement from the meat distribution business in 2002, he bought into Wilderness Roofing. Ray most valued time spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed wood working, camping, and fishing. Ray’s family will tell you, “He was the most honorable man we’ve ever known.” Ray is survived by Margo, his loving wife of 52 years; Daughter, Jenny (Steve) Shults of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter, Margie Ann (Dean) Cordingley of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, John Marshall of Hayden, ID; Son, Michael Ray (Jennifer) Starnes of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Buddy Lee (Anngela) Starnes of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Gary Lynn (Rhonda) Starnes of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Dick (Desi) Starnes; Brother, Bill (Mildred) Starnes; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Eugene Wray Starnes, his parents, two brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Idaho Falls Food Bank. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home. 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home.
