IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Eugene "Gene" Charles Clapp, 84, of Idaho Falls, died April 25, 2009, at Idaho Falls Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born April 5, 1925 in Shelton, Idaho to Leslie Charles Clapp and Katie McNulty Clapp. He grew up in the Idaho Falls area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
On June 20, 1945, he married Margaret Olive Wolfgang in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they raised three children.
Gene lived most of his life in Idaho Falls. He was a life-long farmer, and after his retirement in 1987, he and Margaret wintered in Overton, Nevada and spent summers in Island Park. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, barbequing, and spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include:
Wife: Margaret Clapp, Idaho Falls, ID
Daughter: Kathie (Ron) Thurman, Bullhead City, AZ
Son: Bruce (Connie) Clapp, Blackfoot, ID
Brother: Johnny Clapp, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Bonnie Weise, Idaho Falls, ID
9 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Walter E. Clapp, and his brother Lee Clapp.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Wood Funeral Home “Chapel of the Pines,” 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
