Eugene L. Berry - 11/04/2002 Eugene L. Berry - 11/04/2002 EUGENE L. BERRY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Eugene Lucien Berry, 89, of Idaho Falls, died November 2, 2002, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was born August 26, 1913 at Vale, South Dakota to Stephen Cartland Berry and May Irene Stilwell Berry. In 1914, his family moved to Belle Fourche, SD, in 1917 to Spearfish, SD, in 1920 to Sturgis, SD and in 1921 to Rapid City, SD where he attended school. Following his graduation from high school, he attended and graduated in civil engineering in 1935 from The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City and received a masters degree in business from the University of Idaho in 1968. In 1935 he moved to Fort Yates, North Dakota. He married Alberta Catherine Stiles on February 21, 1937 in Sisseton, South Dakota. In 1942, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1944 to Billings, Montana and then a year later to Fort Peck, Montana. They moved to Idaho Falls in 1949. He worked in engineering for 19 years for various government agencies and for 20 years in supervision of contract administration at the INEEL. Following retirement from the INEEL in 1973, he worked as a General Agent for Western States Life Insurance Company until 1997. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. His hobbies included scouting, fly fishing, hunting, gardening, hiking, teaching, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren, Susan, Scott, Richard & Jennifer Berry and great grandchildren; Catherine, Mahlon, Emily and Lilli. Surviving are:Wife: Alberta Berry, Idaho Falls, IDSon: John Charl (Patricia) Berry, Winston-Salem, NCSon: Steven Eugene Berry, Big Horn, WYSister: Elizabeth M. Hagmann, Royal Oak, MI Brother: Donald S. Berry, Kenosha, WI4 Grandchildren and 4 Great GrandchildrenHe was preceded in death by a brother, Charl. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 17th & Woodruff, with Father Bill Crowley officiating. Burial will be in Aberdeen, South Dakota at Riverside Cemetery in the Spring of 2003. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to one of the following: (1) Checks should be made payable to the Eugene L. Berry Memorial and addressed to Rapid City Regional Hospital-Fund Raising Services, Eugene L Berry Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 6000, Rapid City, SD 57709 or (2) Checks should be made payable to The Nature Conservancy and addressed to P.O. Box 165, Sun Valley, ID, 83353. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. John, We are very much saddened by the passing of your dad.
