EUGENE ANDERSON IDAHO FALLS, ID - Eugene John Anderson, 79, of Idaho Falls, died April 23, 2005, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Hospice. He was born March 27, 1926, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Thure B. Anderson and Mamie Marie Faust Anderson. He grew up and attended elementary school in New Sweden and Roberts, Idaho, and Jr. High and High School in Roberts, Idaho. He served in the U. S. Army as a Staff Sargent during World War II. He married Yvonne Mathews January 5, 1952, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized December 16, 1972, in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, owned Gene’s IGA and was involved in the potato business with Rogers Food and later, Basic American Foods. He served on the R & E Committee for the Idaho Potato Commission for twelve years. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the MIA, the Sunday School, as Ward Clerk and as the Stake Employment Specialist. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, fishing and hunting. Surviving are: Wife: Yvonne Anderson, Idaho Falls, ID Son: John M. (Jan) Anderson, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: LaNette Anderson, Pocatello, ID Son: Gary E. (Kelli) Anderson, Chubbuck, ID 12 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Anderson. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 3rd Ward, 2545 Mesa, with Bishop Brian Seedall officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, and for one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. The family suggests donations to Aspen Foundation for Hospice Care, 3470 Washington Parkway, Idaho Falls, Idaho, 83404. Burial will be in New Sweden Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Jefferson County Veterans Team. Services are under the direction of Wood East Side Chapel.
