Etta Annie Terry Lee died November 17, 2011, in Orem, Utah, from causes incident to age. She would have been 99 years of age in January, 2012. Born January 3, 1913, in Teton City, Fremont County, Idaho, to Albert and Jane Weekes Terry, at the age of 13, Etta's mother passed away. Her father moved the family from Archer, Idaho, to Butte, Montana, where Etta became responsible for many home duties in addition to her schooling. She graduated from Butte High School in 1932 and from the LDS School of Nursing in Idaho Falls in 1935. She took advantage of many opportunities for education after her graduation and had a great thirst for learning. On August 8, 1936, Etta married Desmond Nels Lee in Butte, Montana. They were sealed August 15, 1962, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had one son, Terry Nels. After graduating in nursing, Etta was employed as an office nurse for Dr. H. B. Woolley and often assisted him with home deliveries of babies. In 1938, she became city quarantine nurse when communicable diseases such as small pox, diphtheria and typhoid fever were a constant threat. She organized a much needed immunization clinic. At the same time, Etta began her career as a school nurse working part-time for School District #91 in Idaho Falls. As a school nurse, Etta worked with many different organizations which was and is of great benefit to the health and welfare of the children of Idaho Falls to this day. Etta became a full-time nurse for School District #91 and served as the only school nurse from 1938-1952, after which time the staff increased. She retired after 36 years of dedicated service to thousands of children and to the Idaho Falls community. Etta held many leadership positions and received many honors and awards for her great service to the community. Etta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a temple ordinance worker, Young Women's' Camp Director, Ward Relief Society President twice, and as a Family History missionary in Salt Lake City. In 2006 she moved to Provo, Utah, and lived with her son, Terry, and his wife, Carol. Survivors include her son, Terry Nels (Carol Heyrend) Lee; stepson, Duayne T. (Lois Reinwald) Lee; 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Desmond; her brother, Learin; two sisters, Gwen Ker and LaRue Statham; and two stepsons, Robert R. (Clara) Lee and Thayne N. (LuDean) Lee. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS 11th Ward, 1235 Juniper Drive, with Bishop Thomas Barker officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
