Ethelyn Clara “Toots” Hemming, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 17, 2011, at her home in Mt. Vernon Assisted Living Center.
Toots was born October 5, 1924, in Otter Lake, New York, to William Savoy and Clara Beor Savoy. She grew up in New York and attended Boonville High School and Holland Patent High School. She also graduated from Utica School of Commerce of New York.
On August 10, 1946, she married Clifford Cramer Hemming in Oriskany, New York. They made their home in Oriskany for 60 years. After retirement, they enjoyed many years at their cabin on the Black River near Boonville, New York. Toots moved to Idaho Falls to be near their son after Clifford passed away January 9, 1999. Toots was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and also worked as a bookkeeper and secretary.
Toots was a member of the Oriskany American Legion and VFW in Clinton, New York. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, reading, knitting, and crocheting.
Toots is survived by
her son, William “Bill” (Sylvia) Hemming of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Teresa Ann Lippold of Houston, TX;
brother, Sonny Savoy
6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clifford Hemming, three brothers, Bob, Ken, and Teddy, and two sisters, Cecilia and Betty.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mt. Vernon for their loving care shown to Toots in her last year.
