ETHEL BIRD STOWELL
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ethel Josephine Bird Stowell, 89, of Idaho Falls, died September 17, 2002, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 12, 1912, at Milo, Idaho, to Alvin Coles and Mary Ida Fogg Coles. She grew up in Milo and graduated from Rigby High School.
She married Angus Brady Bird September 18, 1930, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Milo for many years, then moved to Lincoln, where they lived for 35 years. She was a homemaker and mother and also worked at the LDS Hospital for 17 years. Her husband passed away October 4, 1976. She married Harold B. Stowell December 1, 1978.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Sunday School Secretary, Organist, Relief Society Secretary, Primary teacher and leader, Jr. Sunday School Coordinator, and in the Relief Society Presidency. She and Harold served a full-time mission to Independence, Missouri from 1981-1983. They also served as officiators in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She enjoyed music, playing for dances and other occasions throughout southeastern Idaho, and especially loved being in their Family Band, “Bird's Melodians.” She loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Florida, and the Holy Land.

Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m Friday, September 20, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 1st Ward, 3700 East Lincoln Road.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Burial will be in Milo Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls, ID 83406.
