Click Here To View Memorial Video Ethel Ann Rockwood, 89, of Iona, passed away December 27, 2014, at Mountain View Hospital. She was under the care of her loving family. Ethel Ann was born September 5, 1925, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Harold Whitehead Oliverson and Lucy Pearl Lena Olsen Oliverson. She grew up and attended grade school in Egypt, Idaho, and graduated from Preston High School. In September 1943, she became an Army Cadet Nurse in training at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. During training she worked in the Psychiatric and Iron Lung Polio Unit in Spokane, Washington. She also worked in Pediatric Units in Denver, Colorado. On November 1, 1946, she married Hubert Rushton Rockwood in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born five children: Ann, Yvonne, Craig, Cathryn, and Todd. Ethel Ann and Hubert made their home in Iona, where Ethel Ann worked as a homemaker and was a surgical and clinical nurse. She was also the Iona town nurse, and provided tender care to many. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various positions throughout the church, including: Primary teacher, Stake Sunday School Board, Stake and Ward Relief Society, and Mutual leader. She went to girls’ camp as the camp nurse. The last position that she held was compassionate service leader for twelve years. It brought her great joy to visit the sick, take them meals, and to help them in any way she could. Ethel Ann was a member of the Bonneville Art Association, and she was a community and family archivist. She loved to travel, and she enjoyed afternoon drives with her husband. She enjoyed taking care of her beautiful yard. She was very competitive in sports and card games. She also loved to sing and dance. Ethel Ann loved her family, and she doted over her 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Ethel Ann is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Hubert Rockwood of Iona; daughter, Ann (Dale) Jenkins of Duvall, WA; son, Craig (Joyce Aicher) Rockwood of Iona; daughter, Cathryn (Clarence) Holden of Mt. Vernon, WA; son, Todd Rockwood of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Robert (Ester) Oliverson of Kearns, UT; brother, Gordon (Katheryne) Oliverson of West Valley, UT; sister, Elaine (Orval) Benson of Idaho Falls; sister-in-law, Helen Oliverson of Sandy, UT; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Pearl Oliverson; daughter, Yvonne; grandson, George Andrew Gayman; granddaughter, Trenna Jenkins; great granddaughter, Lauren Trenna Jenkins; brothers, Ray and Glen; sister, Margaret; and sister-in-law, Francine. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Mountain View Hospital for their loving care of their mother. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Iona LDS 5th Ward, 7555 North 55 East, with Bishop Lynn Rockwood officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery, where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
