ETHEL LOFTUS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Ethel Wilcock Sparks Loftus, 90, of Idaho Falls, died at Life Care Center early in the afternoon, February 9, 2007, leaving the bonds of mortality and awaking to a glorious reunion with her husband, Frank, her parents, and all of the other relatives and old friends who have been waiting for her. Ethel was born January 15, 1917, on the farm owned by her parents, Christopher and Hannah Gunson Wilcock, located 2-1/2 miles southeast of Shelley, Idaho. She attended grade school in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School in 1934. She also attended one term at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Ethel lived on her parents' farm until March 14, 1938, when she married Frank Leonard Sparks. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple September 19, 1939. Ethel and Frank lived in Idaho Falls for the remainder of their lives. Frank passed away very suddenly August 28, 1982. On July 9, 1983, Ethel married James Elmer Loftus. Elmer passed away May 12, 1988. Ethel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life and held many positions. She particularly enjoyed working with the young women. Despite some serious health problems, Ethel also enjoyed working as a sewing instructor for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and as a bookkeeper and sales person for Bennett's Glass and Paint. She is survived by her sons, Reed of Idaho Falls, and Rolland and his wife, Agnes, of Salt Lake City, Utah; her grandchildren, Charles, Kirsten, Brian and Andrea, and five great-grandchildren, Rachel, John Charles (J.C.), Rebecca, Sariah and Eva. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends for one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
