Ernesto Benitez

Ernesto Benitez, 62 of Idaho Falls, passed away December 15, 2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Born in Morazan, El Salvador on March 28, 1959, to Ernesto Benitez Sr. and Josefa Cedillos Benitez, eldest of 8 brothers. He received his Masters in San Salvador and led a career as a math professor in his hometown. He was a softball coach, a track and field coach, a director, and a mentor to many. He played soccer, and was a master of ceremony. He was involved in community and political events.

He moved to America in his late 20's and resided in California. He later relocated to Idaho in 2010. He was married to Yossis Bolainez and they shared three children.

Ernesto was a devoted father and grandfather who adored his family. He was a Christian man, a man of faith and wisdom, a brother, an uncle, a son and a friend. He loved sports, music and his passion was teaching. He loved to read and learn about history. He was loved by everyone he encountered. He was known for his happy spirit and attitude; always smiling and talking. He lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same. His 3 children were his greatest pride and joy and he made sure to let them know.

Ernesto is survived by his loving children; daughters Jenneffer (Kenneth) Benitez of Corona CA, Ashley (Humberto) Benitez of Moreno Valley CA, and Ernie (Celina) Benitez of La Verne, CA and his 4 grandchildren, his brothers Carlos (Gera) Benitez of VA, Oscar Benitez of VA, Fidel (Rosemary) Benitez of El Salvador, Roberto (Mariela) Benitez of VA, Sergio (Xiomara) Benitez of VA, Reny (Heidi) Benitez of TX and Edwin (Sonia) Benitez of VA as well as sister-in law, Guadalupe Maldonado, Colombina Bolainez and Regina Escalante.

He was preceded in death by his father Ernesto Benitez, Sr. and his mother Josefa Benitez.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2021, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
