ERICA SUMMERS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Erica Joyce Esplin Summers passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, as a result of a lightning strike on the Grand Teton, where she was climbing with her husband and several others.
Erica was born October 10, 1977, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Tye J. and Gale Burnside Esplin, the third of five children. Erica attended Snake River Schools and obtained a legal secretary degree from Idaho State University. She was taking night classes in order to become a registered nurse at the time of her death.
On August 1, 1998, she married Clinton Thomas Summers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Erica and Clint have two children, Adison (4) and Daxton (2). Erica was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was serving in the Relief Society at the time of her death. Erica was a ray of sunshine in her family. She delighted in being a wife and mother, trying new recipes, decorating her home, planning birthday parties for her children, having dinners for family and friends, and being with her husband. Erica loved to water-ski, read, snowboard, tease, and spend time with her own and extended family. She was generous and kind to her neighbors and all she met and was always helping someone. Erica, her sisters, and her mother had a special bond and loved to be together. Erica was so very loving and so very loved.
Erica is survived by her husband, Clint Summers, of Idaho Falls; her children, Adison Joyce, age 4, and Daxton W., age 2; her parents, Tye & Gale Esplin; sisters, Lisa [Kirt] Marlow of Taylor, Angela [Jason] Lish of Blackfoot; brothers, Justin of Blackfoot, and Ryan, (serving a full-time LDS Mission in Riverside, California); her husband's parents, Sheryl & Trent Packer of Rigby; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven [Tammy] Summers of Sandy, Utah, Shari [Josh] Lane of American Fork, Jeni [Nolan] Bybee of Rigby, Heather Summers and Bryce Summers of Rigby, and a grandmother, Jean Esplin, of Blackfoot. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dalyle Esplin, her grandmother, Joyce Hendershot, her father-in-law, Weston Summers, and a cousin, Kailsie Esplin.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2003, at the Idaho Falls LDS Lincoln 1st Ward, 3700 East Lincoln Road, with Bishop Paul Brizzee officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (963 S. Ammon) and Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Riverside-Thomas Cemetery under the direction of Wood East Side Chapel.
