Eric Byron Nelson, 56, of Geneva, New York, passed away January 30, 2016. Eric was born January 25, 1960, in San Jose, CA, to Alvin John Nelson and GaNene Rowbury Nelson. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Utah State University and a Master’s Degree from Washington State University. On August 15, 1981, he married Karen Renee Christensen in Idaho Falls. To this union were born four children, Andrea, Ryan, Lindsey, and Tanner. Eric and Karen later divorced. Eric worked as a health and safety director for several corporations including Pactiv, Wyeth, Pfizer, and Kelloggs. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and singing. In his younger years, he was a gifted athlete. His greatest hobbies of all were doing funny impressions/voices, pranking, and making everyone laugh. He was the life of every party and a joy to be around. He will greatly be missed but fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched. Eric is survived by daughter, Andrea (Keith) Eighmey of Slippery Rock, PA; son, Ryan Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter Lindsey (Jessica) Hughes of Pocatello, ID; son, Tanner (Jessie) Nelson of San Diego, CA; father, Alvin John Nelson, of Burley, ID; mother, GaNene Nelson, of Burley, ID; brother, Evan (Marci) Nelson of Walnut Creek, CA; brother, Alan (Lari) Nelson of Burley, ID; sister, Beryl Nelson of Meridian, ID; sister, Carla (Todd) Campbell of Idaho Falls, ID. 4 grandchildren Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
