Eric Paul Horman

Eric Paul Horman, 57, of Iona, passed away of natural causes on October 28, 2021, at his home. Eric was born November 29, 1963, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Richard Leon Horman and Louise Wheeler Horman. He grew up and attended school in Iona and graduated from Bonneville High School. After high school he served in the Chile Conception Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. He went to BYU-Idaho and later joined the Army National Guard and served for several years. Eric went on to attend Eastern Idaho Technical College, and then completed his bachelor's degree.

He married Patti Rue Atchley on April 24, 1992, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have three daughters, Melissa, Rebecca and Taylor; and a son, Preston Horman. Eric and Patti made their home in Iona, Idaho, and Eric worked in Radiation Protection for the INL. Eric was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and especially spending time with his family. He loved hiking with the young men of his ward, and training them in outdoor survival skills and scouting. Eric is survived by his loving wife, Patti Rue Horman of Iona, ID; children, Melissa (Craig) Checketts of Idaho Falls, ID, Rebecca (Cory) Bowen of Idaho Falls, ID, Taylor Horman of Idaho Falls, ID, and Preston (Jenna) Horman of Shelley, ID; his parents, Leon and Louise Horman of Iona, ID; siblings, Scott (Sunday) Horman of Lindon, UT, Laura (Lyle) Tracy of Ucon, ID, Lisa Palmer of Idaho Falls, ID, Steve (Catherine) Horman of Littleton, CO, and Michelle (Cal) Watson of Idaho Falls, ID; and 6 grandchildren: Samantha, Annika and Zachary Checketts, and Lucy, Blake and Lily Bowen. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Beth Horman and Preston and Mae Wheeler; fathers-in-law, Richard Heinz and JR Atchley; and sister-in-law, Julie Atchley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Iona 11th Ward, 4707 East Iona Road. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
