Enid Faye Black Burtenshaw passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the age of 86. She was born on November 25, 1934, to Ellis Tracy Black and Cleo Anderson Black.
Enid is survived by her husband of 65 years, Duane Harris Burtenshaw; her children, Julie (Dan) Hammon, Paula (Matthew) Light, Ann Lyman, Jesse, and Becky (Kirk) Buer; 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Joel (Carol) Stout; sister-in-law, Maxine Long Black and brother-in-law, Christopher Lefteroff. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Ellis Keith Black and Richard (Dick) Dennis Black, and by her sister, Janice Mae Black Lefteroff.
Enid grew up in Ammon, Idaho, and met her husband, Duane, at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on October 28, 1955, and initially, settled in Ucon, Idaho. A few years later, the family moved to the farm on Fairview Road where there was space to spread out and have animals. She loved her family and living and working on the farm. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing, gardening, cross-stitching, quilting, and other handiwork. Enid completed her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) training and worked in Delivery at the Idaho Falls Hospital and other medical offices in Idaho Falls. In recent years, she loved connecting with family and friends on Facebook and downloading books to read from the library on her iPad.
Enid has a testimony of Jesus Christ and has been active all of her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, participating in Primary, Mutual, Young Women, and Relief Society. She and Duane served as missionaries for five seasons at West Piney Girls Recreational Camp near Swan Valley, Idaho.
Enid liked to travel, and Duane loves Arizona! For over 35 years, they have been snowbirds, traveling back and forth to Apache Junction, Arizona for the winter.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, family services are pending. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
