Emerson Ricks Hunter, 72, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 10, 2016, at Teton Acute Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born December 9, 1943, in Rigby, Idaho to William Wallace Hunter and Bertha O’Donnell Hunter. During World War II the family moved to Seattle, Washington. After the war they moved to Idaho Falls where he grew up and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho and later Cal State Long Beach where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He also lived in Utah, Montana, and Blackfoot before moving back to Idaho Falls 20 years ago. Emerson married Ruth Diniz Pereira on January 22, 1966, where their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission as a youth to Brazil. Emerson enjoyed chess, amateur astronomy, computer programming, art, classical music, reading, and fly fishing. Survivors are: Wife: Ruth Hunter, Sandy, UT Son: Marcello Rufus (Rosemary) Hunter, Potomac Falls, VA Son: Appio Claudius Hunter, Salt Lake City, UT 4 Granddaughters: Michela Hunter, Sydne Hunter, Noelle Hunter, and Saskia Hunter all of Potomac Falls, VA. Brother: Ralph (Shirlee) Hunter, Irwin, ID Sister: Iris Ricks, Fairview, UT Sister-in-law: Nita Hunter, Rigby, ID He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donnell Hunter; and a brother-in-law, Don Ricks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Brookview Ward (1925 East 49th South) with Bishop Ryan Meikle, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
