Elvira Ruiz, 65, of Dubois, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, on December 21, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Elvira was born March 8, 1960, in Tacupo, Mexico, to Isidro Garcia and Gertrudis Hernandez Garcia. She grew up in Michoacan, Mexico.
On July 31, 1978, she married Elio Ruiz in Mexico. Elvira and Elio made their home in Dubois, Idaho.
She was a compassionate and caring woman, whose life was defined by love, strength, and devotion to her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Her home was always filled with warmth and the comforting aromas of meals that she prepared for her family. She also had a deep love for gardening, and took special joy in surrounding her home with beautiful flowers.
One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a United States citizen, a milestone that reflected her perseverance.
In 2006, she endured the unimaginable loss of her son in a tragic accident. From that day on, a part of her heart went with him, yet she continued forward with quiet strength, carrying his memory with her always. Now, she finds peace, reunited with her beloved son.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the lives she touched.
Elvira is survived by her husband, Elio Ruiz of Dubois, ID; daughter, Erica (Noe) Perez of Dubois, ID; daughter, Lupe (Mario) Marquez of Dalhart, TX; and five grandchildren--each of whom was a great joy and blessing in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isidro and Gertrudis Garcia; her son, Cesar Ruiz; and grandson, Jordan Perez.
Private family services will be held at Wood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Dubois Cemetery.
