BATEMAN Click here to view Elvey's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Elvey Walton (also known as E.W. and Eb) Bateman, 89, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 5, 2009, at Idaho Falls Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 14, 1920, on a cattle ranch in the Snowy Mountains near Lewistown, Montana, to Ren and Lottie Bateman. He and his family moved to Idaho Falls when he was five, and the town was his home base for the rest of his life. He graduated from the Iona schools and attended construction engineering classes in California. On August 28, 1940, he married his high school sweetheart, Marie Stromberg. They had five children. She died October 29, 1979. He married Velda Guinn in 1981. They divorced. He married Jeri Lowe on September 14, 1996. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. He has lived in Los Angeles; Bakersfield; Mesa, AZ; Oklahoma City; and Idaho Falls. He worked as a carpenter and as a contractor for his company, Bateman Construction. In 1974, he joined with Kim Hall and formed Bateman-Hall, Inc. He, with the legal partnership of Reginald Reeves, built the first condominium in the State of Idaho. He was involved in the Elks and played guitar, banjo, and drums in a western dance band – The Rhythm Rockers. He enjoyed building clocks, furniture, and frames in his shop. He loved his summer home at Mack's Inn. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by his wife, Jeri; and his children, Lane Bateman, Nick Bateman, Judy Atwood, Penni Kelley and Shawna Turner. He had 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Idaho Falls LDS Parkview Ward, 2051 S. Emerson, with Bishop Brad Backman officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
