ELVA R. NICHOLS
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Elva Rogers Nichols, 97, of Idaho Falls, died October 1, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
She was born November 24, 1903, at Roane County, West Virginia, to Tyre Bennet Rogers and Laura Effie Smith Rogers. She spent her early years in West Virginia, then moved with her family to Eckley, Colorado, when she was 7 years old. She attended the University of Colorado at Gunnison and also attended the University of Nebraska.
She married Clarence Albert Nichols April 6, 1924, at Canõn City, Colorado. They made their home in Kansas for a few years, then moved to Nebraska, where she was a homemaker and mother. She also taught elementary school for many years. Her husband passed away November 20, 1981.
She was a member of the College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa and was previously a member of the United Methodist Churches in Bartlett and Burwell, Nebraska. She has held various offices in women's groups over the years.
She was a founding and longtime member of the Clover Blossom Extension Club in Bartlett, Nebraska. She was an accomplished amateur actress. She was interested in reading and writing poetry, child care, and child welfare.
Surviving are:Son: Marvin Dwight [Frances] Nichols, Kimberly, ORDaughter: Bonnie Ruth [Lyle] Alloway, Burwell, NEDaughter: Shirley Elinor Hess, Idaho Falls, ID 13 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren & Great Great Grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Kenneth Nichols, a brother, Howard (Waitman) Rogers; two sisters, Rema Morgan Curtis and Lora Lindgren.
Graveside Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001, at Cloverdale Memorial Gardens in Boise, Idaho, with her son-in-law, Dr. Lyle Alloway, officiating.
The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to services at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 North Cloverdale Road, Boise.
Burial will be in Cloverdale Memorial Gardens in Boise under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
