Elmer H. Tawzer - 03/31/2003 Elmer H. Tawzer - 03/31/2003 ELMER H. TAWZER AMMON, ID -- Elmer Henry Tawzer, 91, of Ammon, passed away March 29, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes. He was born May 10, 1911, on a farm in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Charles Preston Tawzer and Ida Augusta Torneton Tawzer. When he was six years old the family came to Idaho and settled on the Torneton family farm in Ammon, where he grew up. He attended school in Ammon. He met his future wife, Lois Mae Schulze, at a local Saturday night dance, and they were married September 12, 1934, in Idaho Falls. They purchased a farm in Ammon in 1934 and he farmed there with his family all of his life. He also worked a few years during the winter for Hurley Potato Warehouse and drove school bus for District #93. After retirement they spent winters in St. George, Utah. Lois passed away February 26, 1990. He liked to spend some of his summers with his daughter and her family in Star Valley, Wyoming. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1087. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, baseball, and playing bridge. Surviving are:Son: Tom [Sonja] Tawzer, Idaho FallsSon: Gary [Patty] Tawzer, Lake Havasu, AZSon: Lanny [Brigette] Tawzer, Santa Monica, CABrother: Edwin “Bud” [Phoebe Ann] Tawzer, Idaho FallsSister: Hazel Tawzer, Idaho Falls 10 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great GrandchildHe was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, a daughter, Janice Taylor, and a son-in-law, Larry Taylor. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday for one hour prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge.
