WAYNE BROADBENT IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Elmer Wayne Broadbent, 88, of Idaho Falls, died December 27, 2009, at his home. Wayne was born July 6, 1921, in Afton, Wyoming, to John Elmer Broadbent and Jean Rich Broadbent. He grew up and attended schools in Thayne. After graduating high school he attended Laramie University. He married Lola M. Smith January 2, 1946, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked as a firefighter for the City of Idaho Falls for 25 years and later in the Building and Zoning Office until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wayne enjoying making rock jewelry, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. Survivors include: Wife: Lola Broadbent, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Brian Wayne Broadbent, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Buhl Broadbent Brother: Norville Broadbent Sister: Vera Call 3 Grandchildren, Kathy Marsden, Rose Longacre, and Ben Updike, and 4 Great Grandchildren, Brayden, Austin, Alex, and Olivia Longacre. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lorna Calton. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, with Bishop Clint Francis of the Idaho Falls LDS 10th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N.
