ELLA MAY PERKINS MESA, AZ -- Ella May Perkins, 87, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Idaho Falls, died August 13, 2003, at the Odyssey House, in Mesa. She was born April 16, 1916, in LaBelle, Idaho, to George Elihu Pettingill and Maude Leona Lords Pettingill. She grew up and attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. She married Howard Nelson October 11, 1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 27, 1955. She was a homemaker and mother and they were the parents of five children. Howard preceded her in death November 22, 1979. She married Clayton Perkins November 26, 1983, in Idaho Falls. During their marriage they lived in Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. He passed away in February, 1998. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served as President and teacher in the Primary and Relief Society, worked with Special Interests, and served three missions. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and making draperies as her own in-home business. Surviving are: Son: LeRoy (Gloria) Nelson, Sun City, AZ Son: Vern (Ann) Nelson, Shelley, ID Daughter: Joyce (Pete) David, Florence, AZ Son: Vaughn (Suzanne) Nelson, Farmington, UT Daughter: Vonda (Lorin) Harper, Iona, ID Brother: Don Pettingill, Washington, DC Brother: Bill Pettingill, Burley, ID Brother: Theo Pettingill, Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Mary Kissler, Oroville, CA Sister: Mildred Campbell, Tucson, AZ 24 Grandchildren, 54Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, a sister, Hilda Parrish, brothers, Clifford and Elwood Pettingill, and a great grandson, Jade Nelson. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge, with her son, Roy Nelson, officiating. The family will meet with friends Monday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Tuesday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge). Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1920 East 17th Street, Suite 200, Idaho Falls, Idaho, 83404.
