Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca Allen

Elizabeth Rebecca Allen, better known as Betty, age 79, passed away on July 23, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Betty was born on November 5, 1946 in Hudson, New York. Betty grew up in Upstate New York until she moved to Idaho Falls in 1988 with her husband, Lew Allen.

Betty graduated from Chatham High School in 1964, then immediately went to cosmetology school. She was a beautician in the state of New York until she moved to Idaho where she continued doing hair for several years.

Betty is survived by her husband, Lewis Allen; her two daughters, Nadine Allen Cyrwus and Marci Allen Buffett; and her four granddaughters, Nichole, Christina, Ivy, and Sara; along with her brother, Paul (Jane) Merwin; nieces and nephews, Robert, Rikki, Harold, Brice, Brian, Jennifer, Katrina, and Paul; brother-in-law, Dan Wahlbom; and brother-in-law, Robert (Nancy) Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Louise Merwin; her sisters, Greta (Holmes) Hutchinson and Nancy Wahlbom; along with her grandson, Jon Allen Cyrwus.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor in early September. The date has not been determined.

Betty had a lot of love for all animals and was passionate about their care. Any contributions to the family can be made to the Snake River Animal Shelter in lieu of flowers.
