E. THERON COX
MILO, ID -- Eli Theron Cox, 81,of Milo, died April 5, 2005,
at his home.
Theron was born July 19, 1923, in Jameston, Idaho, to Eli
Ashton Cox and Evelyn May Cook. He was raised and attended schools in the
Shelley area and in Pasadena, California. He was on the football and track
teams. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He married NaDine Mallory May 18, 1945, at Ely, Nevada. Their
marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple May 18, 1948. After
their marriage, they lived in Shelley and Idaho Falls; then moved to Milo
in 1951. They were married for 51 years until her death in 1996. He farmed
in the Milo area, and worked for the U & I Sugar Factory and the Bonneville
County Assessor’s office.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, Theron served in many capacities, including Bishop, Counselor in the
Stake Presidency and as a Patriarch. He loved horses and spent much of his
childhood riding in the Taylor foothills and Wolverine Canyon with his cousins.
His greatest joy was visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Terry (Tom) Heath of Idaho Falls,
Steve (Laura) Cox and Tim Cox, all of Milo, JanaLee (David) Longhurst of Springville,
UT,
Sister: Betty Dineen, Idaho Falls, ID
Brothers: Jerry (Beverly) Cox, Rigby, ID and Raymon D. Cox of Pasadena, CA,
Sisters-in-law: Mardi (Kay) Smith of Rocklin, CA, and Bette Wright of Idaho
Falls.
10 Grandchildren, Mike, Doug, Debbie, Kerry, Taryn, Trevor, Blake, Taylor,
Mallory and Meg. His 10 great-grandchildren are Kayla, Tyson, Mason, Cole,
Carter, Jakob, Elijah, Ellie, Morgan and Ashton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, NaDine, and eldest son, Mark Cox.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April
9, 2005, at the Milo LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 12127 North 75 East, with Bishop
Bryan Cook officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7:30
to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls,
and Saturday for one hour before services at the church.
Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery under the direction of
Wood Funeral Home.
