Eleonore Martha Marie Mobley, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 4, 2015, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, after a full life, well lived and well loved.
Eleonore was born April 13, 1928, in New York City, New York, to Bernhard Panzenhagen and Sofie Albohn Panzenhagen. She grew up and attended schools in New York and graduated from Teaneck, New Jersey, High School. She also graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, with a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for a few years into the marriage.
On June 29, 1952, she married Emory Vanoy Mobley in Meeker, Colorado. To this union were born three children, (Keith, Marsha, and Willow). Eleonore and Emory have made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, since 1959.
She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Eleonore was instrumental in developing the Chrismon project at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Chrismons are hand-made Christian symbols used to decorate the church at Christmas. Eleonore enjoyed playing bridge (party, marathon and duplicate) with her husband and many friends. She and Donna Amundson were bridge partners for over 50 years. Our mother was an avid reader and loved a good story. She was known for her handiwork, sewing, knitting, quilting, and many other crafts. Eleonore was the butcher’s daughter and proud of that. She was a very good cook and made the best gravy ever.
She traveled with her husband and family to many interesting and exotic places, rarely the same place twice, except for Alaska, which they ventured to around 20 times. She enjoyed deep sea fishing, catching both halibut and salmon. She loved the ocean. She shared a love of history with her husband and it was the basis for many of their travels together.
Both she and her husband had a strong sense of fairness. Eleonore had a way that made you do your best and married a man that always gave his best. Our mother noticed things and was both determined and accommodating. She had a fierce loyalty to her husband and family. She was a strong and true woman.
Eleonore is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Emory "Sam" Mobley of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Keith (Frederick) Mobley of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Marsha Mobley of Fort Lupton, CO; daughter, Willow Arlenea formerly Gail Arlene Mobley of Boulder, CO; sister, Margaret Beatty of Great Falls, MT and HI; 2 grandchildren: Samantha Sophie Mobley and Forrest Jack Mobley, both of Anchorage, AK
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at The First Evangelical Church, 455 West Sunnyside Road, with Pastor Larry Cudmore officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior. A graveside service will be in Meeker, Colorado, at a later date.
