Eleanor Walters

Eleanor Muriel June Walters, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 15, 2010, at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center following a stroke. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Eleanor was born June 2, 1918, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Sven "Sam" and Gitlaug "Gail" Stensland Serigstad. She attended schools in Minneapolis and graduated from South High School. She also attended business school. Eleanor married Joseph M. Walters June 18, 1971, in Downey, California. She lived in Los Angeles for 35 years, and Spokane, Washington, for 20 years. Eleanor worked as a Secretary for Western Gear Manufacturing. After Joseph's death February 16, 1999, she moved to Idaho Falls. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. Eleanor enjoyed needlepoint, sewing, politics, and animals. Her family was very important to her. Eleanor is survived by her niece, Christina S. (Bob) Hanson of Idaho Falls, ID; Sister-In-Law, Virginia Serigstad of Idaho Falls, ID Nephew, Steven Johnson of Irvine, CA Nephew, Gregory Johnson of Ojai, CA Nephew, Bruce Serigstad of San Marcos, CA Niece, Judy Burch of Rogers, AR Niece, Mary Root, Ketchum, ID She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Walters, her siblings, Ingolf Serigstad, Martha Schneider, Stanley Serigstad, and Norman Serigstad, and a niece, Sandra (Bruce) Randall. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Spokane, Washington. Interment will be next to her husband in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Spokane.
