Elberta Rae Patrick Long, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 25, 2021, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family.
Elberta was born September 9, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, to Elbert Roy Patrick and Bertha Mae Stewart Patrick. She grew up in Manito, Illinois. Elberta and her family later moved to Los Angeles, California, where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend Utah Trade Tech in Provo, Utah.
On February 1, 1964, married Donald Robert Long in Los Angeles, California. They were later blessed with four children, Patrick, Jeffrey, Debbie, and Betsey. Elberta and Donald made their home in Provo, Utah, where Elberta worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 23 years at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and later worked at the Kane County Hospital in Kanab before retiring and moving to Idaho Falls. She dedicated many hours to the Humanitarian Center in Idaho Falls.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elberta enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She loved spending time with her family and cherished making pajamas for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren every Christmas. She never missed an opportunity to participate in her grandchildren’s activities.
Elberta is survived by loving daughters, Debbie (John) Farnsworth of Orem, UT, Betsey (Trent) Smith of Tetonia, ID; three sisters, Helen (Mike) Eoff of Las Vegas, NV, Kay Kaufmann of Madison, WI, and Karen (Dave) Kreyling of Garden Grove, CA; daughters-in-law, Silvia Long of Australia, and Beth Long of Idaho Falls, ID; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Robert Long; and two sons, Patrick Long and Jeffrey Long.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Wood East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Utah State Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah, at 12:30 p.m. on June 14, 2021.
