IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Elayne C. Stewart, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully March 24, 2009, at her home of heart failure. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and her loving family.
She was born May 2, 1918, in Mayfield, Utah, to Joseph Nels Christiansen and Emma S. Sorensen Christiansen. She grew up and attended schools in Mayfield. After graduating from high school she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elayne married Lee Kenneth Stewart November 16, 1937, in the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, for six years, Chicago, Illinois, and Seattle, Washington, for seven years, and Idaho Falls for 48 years. While they were in Seattle she worked at Sea First Bank. She was a homemaker and mother and also did the bookkeeping at Falls Paint & Glass, the business which Lee & Elayne owned. Lee passed away July 30, 1998.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elayne served many years in the Primary and Relief Society and loved working with children. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elayne was the last living sibling of Joseph Nels and Emma Christiansen and is survived by her three daughters:

Barbara (Fred) Oligschlaeger, Snohomish, WA
Mary Jane (Jeff) Dahl, Boise, ID
8 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, her parents, and siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone, with Bishop Blaine Eborn officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
