Local artist, Marcia Elaine McChesney, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 18, 2015, at Safe Haven of Mount Vernon, where she was under the care of Hearts for Hospice. She was born October 9, 1927, in Crockett, Contra Costa, California, to Leslie John Lingren and Martha Horman Lingren. The family moved to Idaho Falls when she was very young. Elaine graduated from Idaho Falls High School and studied art through correspondence. Elaine married Samuel Waldrop McChesney on June 26, 1993, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls. Elaine cared for her parents in their old age and for her handicapped brother until his death on September 15, 2007. Her husband, Sam, passed away June 28, 2007. Elaine was an artist, and she did many paintings for individuals and many large canvas backdrops for productions at the Civic Auditorium, as well as monuments along the river. Elaine is survived by her brother, Clinton Lingren of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Lingren; and sisters, LaVerne Clark and Vera June Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will meet with friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Iona Cemetery.
