Elaine Clegg Haroldsen, 86, passed away surrounded by family at her Idaho Falls home on Monday, October 10, 2011, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Elaine was born October 5, 1925, in Cadmus, Montana, a township near Cut Bank, Montana, that no longer exists. She was the third of six children born to Oscar Dean Anderson and Melinda Jane Bell Anderson. She completed grade school and high school in Roberts, Idaho. After her mother’s death when Elaine was in eighth grade, she became the mother of the household. After high school graduation, Elaine moved to Utah, where she worked for the Union Pacific and Bamberger Railroads.
She met Don Clegg in Salt Lake City, where they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 23, 1944. Elaine and Don then moved to Idaho Falls, where they raised their family (eight boys and two girls), and several foster children.
Elaine loved being with people, and is loved by family, neighbors, and friends alike. She loved children, and children loved being with her. Her husband, Don, died March 30, 1988. She then served a full-time LDS church mission in Little Rock, Arkansas (1991-92). She met Ray Haroldsen in 1995, and Elaine and Ray were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 12, 1996. They later served a full-time mission in Chico, California, and Hermiston, Oregon (1998-99). Elaine and Ray later served as workers in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for five years. Elaine served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she enjoyed reading the scriptures, needlework, family history, and spending time with her family.
