IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Elaine Dalby Barraclough, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 6, 2009, at her home.
Elaine was born September 8, 1926 in Leadore, Idaho to William Edgar Dalby and Leda Peterson Dalby. She grew up in the Leadore area and attended Leadore Elementary and High School. She graduated from Ricks College with an Associate Degree. She attended Brigham Young University and then the University of Utah where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Elementary education.
Elaine served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1950-52, in the California San Francisco Mission. She lived and taught school in various states, including Idaho, Utah, California and Nevada. She was a secretary for the Air Force in Hawaii.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions: Primary teacher, Young Women's teacher, Relief Society teacher, Temple Ordinance Worker and Temple organist.
Elaine was a recognized community leader, including serving as president of the Bonneville county Republican women and as president of the "Legisladies" in Boise. She was involved in Music Club and Festival of Trees.
She was a strong supporter of her husband, Jack, in spite of his 14 years in the Idaho State Legislature. During 1993-2001, she took Jack's place in the Legislature multiple times while he was on legislative assignments out of the state.
Her interests included playing the piano and organ, teaching and reading. She traveled widely with her husband. Jack, my deepest sympathy is for you and your family with the passing of Elaine. We both know she is in a better place now with our Heavenly Father. I would like to share with you a traditional Turner poem and hopefully it will provide some peace at this time: "MANY HAPPY RETURNS FOR THE DAY OF THY BIRTH, MAY SUNSHINE AND GLADNESS BE GIVEN, AND MAY THE DEAR FATHER PREPARE THEE ON EARTH, FOR A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY IN HEAVEN." anonymous.
Take Care, and keep in touch, Ed Turner.
